Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

I am not sure how many of you guys have played this game, or even like the series at that matter, but I thought that I would let my boyfriend post his review on this game, as I am not really all that into the series myself.

My thoughts on this game. well first i have to say i started off going into the game wanting to like it. i have played the prince of Persia games and loved them all excluding the last one that was released. i have to say they did a better job when it comes to graphics the graphics for this game are finally HD quality but compared to some other new releases its pretty much average. the artwork in this game is still phenomenal. the thing that bugs me the most about it is the way they changed the princes character. the thing i always liked was the way they portrayed the prince. he was a badass character with a little edge to him, but in this game they give him much more random lines during game play and they try to make him funny, but the thing i always liked was the quiet mysteriousness of the prince. the combat also seems to be slower in this game, the way he wields the sword is like he has a hundred pound weight on his arm which is a little annoying when there is 50 enemies on screen attacking you.
one of the most important things about prince of Persia is parkour aspects in which you use the princes agility to quickly jump, climb and run on walls, but they also seemed to have tweaked the controls for that in a bad way. the way they place the camera angles makes it tricky, and it seems like sometimes the direction of the princes movement depends on the angle of the camera and other times it depend and the actual way the prince is facing. its a little hard to explain but if you played it you know what i mean. the same thing goes for the puzzles also when you are trying to turn a lever a certain way sometimes it will go the completely opposite direction which is frustrating when your spending a lot of time in one area just trying to get past a simple obstacle. well like i said i wanted to love this game but it seems some changes they have made was for the worst. personally i think this game is below average. especially for being a PoP game =/ just my opinion

Red Dead Redemption

I know this is the review a lot of you have been waiting for, and here it is Red Dead Redemption!!

Blending the open world gameplay of the newest entry of the Grand Theft Auto franchise into an epic western story is one of the ballsiest moves I think Rockstar has ever pulled, and it worked out fantasticly.

From all the previews, the game seemed just like that, a GTA style sandbox game set in the wild west. The crazy thing is, that's pretty much what you get. The world definitely seems bigger than GTAIV, but I think it's just more open and spread out than the compactness of Liberty City. The nice thing is, to me, unlike GTA IV, there is seems to be a lot more to do when just wondering around between missions. I liken it more to the exploration in games like Oblivion or Fallout 3 than anything you could do in GTA IV. The random encounters that you may stumble across just seem more organic in RDR than some of the things you could occupy your time with in GTA IV.

On the flipside of that though, the actual missions you find yourself doing are pretty much ripped straight out of the GTA handbook. This can either be good or bad, depending on how bored you get with random fed-ex missions and that sort of thing.

The story is pretty epic, though the midpoint jump down to Mexico seems a bit lackluster, and really slows the story down when it should be racing along, but once you get those missions out of the way, the story really takes off.

Multiplayer is leaps and bounds better than anything GTA IV had. The lobby is basically just a free roam where you can your friends can join a group, or posse, and just run around the country side doing whatever you please. You can easily jump into the same sort of random missions you would run into exploring in the single player game, or easily jump into a number of different match types. Even in the free roam, there are other people running around, giving it an almost MMO feel.

All in all, I'd have to say that RDR is a definite must.

Bayonetta

Sorry for the delay in posting I have had a child, and have not had much time for game play, but now I have lots more time to play games and write reviews, and thanks to gamefly I will have tons of reviews for you ^_^

Soo.. here is my review on the game Bayonetta

Pros: Wonderful graphics and environments, fun action. The style is different from the usual serious Devil May Cry boredom.

Cons: The camera is constantly poring over Bayonetta's backside and bosom. I'm not a prude, but the developers come off as depraved teenagers. It gets old real fast and is a disservice to the good gameplay.

It's like they were insecure about whether you'd like the game, so they put in continual eye candy. I'm getting tired of these over-erotic Japanese games.

The cutscenes are tedious and overlong. They are almost as self-indulgent as the MGS4 scenes. There was a scene where two characters literally out-posed each for like 30+ seconds. Skip them all you won't miss a thing, seriously.

You're watching Bayonetta in CG cutscenes doing these amazing moves, and then you're so underpowered in the actual gameplay compared to that. It seems to a problem with many Japanese-made games.

The J-pop was not to my liking for this sort of game. It ran against the grain for the music my brain was expecting.

The level design felt constrained. I realize that these type of action games usually are extremely linear, but I still felt like the environments could have been opened up a bit more. I think it was due to the constant cutscene interruptions that made me feel this way.

Still, this game is superior to Ninja Gaiden II and Devil May Cry 4. If they trim the posing excess, then I'll definitely play the next game.
